Next week is Thanksgiving! Already? Wow! I thought I had given up on trying to plan Christmas Recitals last year or the year before, something like that. No, no, I tried again. What was I thinking? I was thinking how much I love Christmas Music! That is what I was thinking.

The Christmas Season really kicks in gear next weekend. Have YOU started choosing the PERFECT gift for your loved ones?

The after Christmas Recital did get canceled. We are now having a recital in March! It is a senior spotlight one. This is something I have not done in years. One of my student’s sister is a graphic design student in her University and volunteered to crest the program. I used to do really creative ones with students pictures and a blurb about them. This time will be similar. The biggest difference is there will be a page for each of the 2 seniors. There will be pictures of them from infant to today in it along with a short biography.

Start of a new year!!! It's time to go through my music to see who will want what pieces to play/sing for the next few months. I am always surprised when I look because I forget which books or solos I have.

When Kathy and I were in band together, our band director used to tell us all the time, from 6th grade to high school graduation, that together we were the perfect clarinetist. Kathy had really good technique and I was really good at interpretation, so put us together , we covered everything. We practiced a lot together. I literally did not know until a few years ago that she only practiced because we had to. Me? I loved practicing. Yes, sometimes I practiced to irritate my brothers, especially my older brother, however, I loved to play. There has never been a day that I don’t heard some form of music in my head except when my mother passed away. Then my head was silent for a while. It took time, but the music came back. Now instead of practicing ether clarinet with Kathy, I sing with one of her kids. I have the best job. I am thankful for the little I can teach.

I have given up on trying to have the Christmas Recital in December. I tried to find a good day in November. Nope. So, it will be either before the 12th day of Christmas in January or just an after Christmas Recital. 😊🎶🎵🎷🎷🎤🎵🎶

My clarinet and my saxophone students are play 2 duets at the Recital in December. Unlike the spring recital, I don't need to transpose any parts! Wild Music Publishing has a lot of duet books for some unusual pairing! So far they have picked one Piece. They need one more.
