Such a great weekend in the kitchen with Katherine and Andy visiting from Blooming Kupcakes teaching two great classes today and the last one coming up tomorrow afternoon! Sweet memories being made and loads of fun! They stayed at the beautiful The Chesapeake Inn and we even had time to welcome them to the river with a sunset aboard Sail Nauti Cat Thursday evening!💕🍎🌺🌷

This morning, I woke up to news that truly touched my heart. I have been named a 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗸𝗲 & 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 — 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿! 🧁🌸

Before I say anything else, I have to say 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨, 𝗚𝗢𝗗. 🙏🏽
Every opportunity, every open door, every person who has supported Blooming Kupcakes along this journey — I know none of it would be possible without Him. There have been moments when I could never have imagined where this little dream, a piping bag, some buttercream, and a whole lot of faith would take me.

To everyone who took the time to 𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗲, follow my journey, share my work, encourage me, attend my classes, purchase my cupcakes, or simply leave a kind word — 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁. Your support means more to me than you will ever know.

In 1989 I bought this Bron Couke Mandolin from France somewhere in DC unfortunately I can’t recall where anymore, but I recall that it was about $300 back then which was a lot for a student, but I wanted it and that was that. Surprisingly they are still about $350 today for this model. For the last 15 years mine languished in a cabinet used sparingly b/c it was missing a screw that made it a bit dangerous and had gotten a bit of rust on the handle. Last night, I decided to repair, restore it and sharpen the blade. This beautiful piece of steel is now back to it’s former glory for another 35 years. They really don’t make things like they used to! ( I’m a fan if the small flat ones for slicing, but for fine julienne, pomme frites and waffle cuts, there really is nothing on par with the steel beast! I feel a sense of satisfaction knowing it will be here long after I am gone. Thanks to the guys at Horn's Middlesex Ace for helping to find the exact stainless screw and bolt needed along with rust remover and tiny steel brushes!❤️ This will speed class prep!
