The Urbandale Homecoming Court paid a special visit to Webster Elementary today. The High Schoolers took a trip down memory lane to reflect on their own elementary school days and shared wonderful advice to our 5th graders on how to get involved, find your passion, and make the most of the high school experience.

Who’s telling the truth—the pigs or the wolf?

3rd graders in Mrs. Ogden's class had a blast exploring "The Three Little Pigs" from different perspectives! They put on their “lawyer hats” and wrote convincing arguments to decide whether the wolf was innocent or guilty.

To wrap up the unit, students put their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test by designing and building a house that the wolf couldn’t blow over!

What a fun way to combine reading, writing, critical thinking, and STEM!

In kindergarten, Ms. Cozzoni's class has been building their counting skills by practicing one-to-one correspondence. Last week, our mathematicians went on a counting adventure around the classroom. They traveled from picture to picture, carefully counted the objects they found, and recorded the number.

Students had so much fun moving around the room, and practicing counting with friends!

Ms. Potter's 4th grade class has been full of learning, fun, and memorable moments lately.

They recently wrapped up their first literacy unit on Personal Narratives with a very special visit from Ms. Potter’s grandma—and a fun-filled game of Candy Land! 🍭 Students made connections between "Small Steps" by Peg Kehret, a story about surviving polio, someone who actually lived through the polio era, and the history of Candy Land.

The class also enjoyed their first Buddy visit with Mrs. Girkin’s class, and last Friday, they ventured beyond the classroom to explore the art museum and Pappajohn Sculpture Park with Mrs. Herman, our art teacher! 🎨

We are so grateful for all the opportunities to learn, connect, explore, and grow outside the classroom. From special visitors to buddy time to adventures in our community, we’re making so many wonderful memories along the way! 🥰

In UPOWER, 2nd graders are getting creative! Students are designing their own “T-shirts” to spread the message of what it means to be an UpStander—someone who speaks up, takes action, and helps make our school a kinder, safer place. This fun project is part of our learning about the Stop, Support, and Report process and how we can all play a role in standing up against bullying.

It’s Homecoming Week at Urbandale!
Check out the fun (and optional!) dress-up days Webster has planned!

Thursday is extra special! It’s both Superhero Day and Race Around Webster (RAW)! Students can come to school dressed as their favorite superhero or someone they look up to. They can then change into their RAW shirts right before the race. All RAW shirts will be kept at school until race day, so they’ll be ready to go!

What a BEAUTIFUL evening at Webster! Beautiful beyond the weather and the new playground. The beauty was in the people of our Webster community. We had a record number of families attend our Fall Festival tonight! Webster truly is a family 💙
