📚 Tomorrow is the BIG DAY! 🎉

We are so excited to welcome our students and families back to Walnut Hills tomorrow! 💙

As you prepare for the first day, we want to remind everyone that our new parking lot is open, which means we also have NEW parent drop-off and pick-up procedures. 🚗

Please take a few minutes tonight to review the updated procedures. Giving yourself a little extra time and knowing the new traffic flow will help us keep arrival and dismissal safe and smooth as we all learn the new routine together!

🚗 IMPORTANT PICK-UP REMINDER FROM MR. BARRY:

⭐ The “curve” space past the crosswalk is ONLY for vehicles with a child(ren) who require extra adult assistance AND have been approved by WHE Administration.
All other vehicles should be parked in the parking lot or in the designated pick-up lines.Thank you for helping us keep this area available for the families who need it!
— Mr. Barry

⏰ A few first-day reminders:

Give yourself a little extra time.
Follow all posted signs and staff directions.
Please be patient as everyone learns the new traffic flow.
Keep an eye out for students and help us keep everyone safe!

We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and cooperation as we adjust to our new parking lot and procedures.

🎒✏️ We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow for the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! 🍎

Here’s to a wonderful start to the 2026–2027 school year! 💙🪿

🪿 Meet Gertie the Goose — Walnut Hills’ Unofficial Mascot! 🪿

If you’ve noticed a goose making an appearance on our team shirts, you may be wondering… Why a goose? Well, there’s a story behind it!

For the past few years, two geese have made Walnut Hills their home, building their nests right here on our school grounds and welcoming many adorable goslings along the way. 🐣

Of course, sharing a school with geese comes with a little excitement. We’ve learned to navigate their surprise appearances, occasional disruptions, and—yes—even a few protective goose attacks! 😂 Over time, instead of fighting it, we decided to embrace it.

And so, Gertie the Goose became our unofficial school mascot! 🪿💚

This year, our district theme is “How Good Can It Get?” Naturally, with Gertie on our team, we had to put our own Walnut Hills spin on it…

🪿 HOW GOOSE CAN IT GET?! 🪿

Gertie represents a funny little piece of Walnut Hills history and the memories our students and staff have made alongside our feathered neighbors. That’s why you’ll see her proudly represented on our team shirts this year!

We’re excited for a goose-tastic year at Walnut Hills. Let’s find out just HOW GOOSE CAN IT GET! 💚🪿

The first shipment of our new Illustrative Math books is here!

Every elementary school in our District will begin using this new math curriculum this fall. Teachers who piloted the learning last year saw great results, with students becoming more engaged, thinking more deeply, and strengthening their problem-solving skills.

Be sure to ask your child about it when the school year gets underway! ✏️
