Our favorite day of the year...time to celebrate our students on their graduation day! Trinity Nett, Jasmyn Oliveros, Camron Stockley, and Maggie Hershey (SR to SL)...the class of 2026! Each one received their BFA in Theatre - Lighting Design & Technology today and the faculty - Nicole, David, Rob, Lisa, and Brant (SR to SL) - are proud to celebrate their combined achievements!!!

Last month, the Department of Dance presented “April Senior Thesis Dance Concert” in our Studio Theatre here at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
This production featured the choreography of seniors Harper Clark, Erin Fabian, Lily Freebery, Jasmine O'Connor, and Avi Pellegrinetti.
Celebrating Team Lighting, which included Laney Heggemeyer (sophomore) and Raziel Rogers (sophomore) as the co-lighting designers and lighting console programmers!
Kudos to ALL on three wonderful performances of Dance!

This past weekend, Illinois Theatre closed out our 2025-2026 season with “The City and the City" (based on the novel by China Miéville, and adapted by Christopher Walshin) in our Colwell Playhouse with direction by Jordan Coughtry.
What a wonderful dramatic adventure!!
Celebrating Team Lighting, which included Robert Perry (faculty) as lighting designer, Cameron Strandin (second-year graduate student) as assistant lighting designer, Resa Fuller (second-year graduate student) as head electrician, and Lauren Merrifield (second-year graduate student) as the lighting console programmer/operator.
Kudos to ALL on a wonderful run in the Colwell Playhouse!

This month, Illinois Theatre presented “Radium Girls" by D. W. Gregory in our Studio Theatre with direction by José Manuel Díaz-Soto.
What a wonderful dramatic adventure!!
Celebrating Team Lighting, which included Maggie Hershey (junior) as lighting designer, Griffin Ferguson (first-year undergraduate student) as assistant lighting designer, Wesley Lu (sophomore) as head electrician, and AJ Turnell (junior) as the lighting console programmer/operator.

This month, Lyric Theatre @ Illinois presented “Little Women" in our Tryon Festival Theatre; with words and music by Mark Adamo, after the novel by Louisa May Alcott. Music direction by Casey Robards and stage direction by Dawn Harris.
Celebrating Team Lighting, which included Jasmyn Oliveros (senior) as lighting designer, Paige Vick (first-year graduate student) and Scott Krelle (first-year undergraduate student) as assistant lighting designers, Trinity Nett (senior) as head electrician, Mads Ren (senior) as the console programmer/operator, and Rue Zadik (first-year undergraduate student), and Charlotte Heads (Parkland Pathways student) as the follow spot operators!

Last month our students had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with Brad Schiller and the GLP Demo Event in our Studio Theatre here at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts!
It was a wonderful day of demos, hands-on programming, and learning sessions about topics ranging from the quality of light to GDTF.
Our thanks to Brad Schiller and GLP for spending the day with our students!
