Thanks to the Illinois Nut Tree Association for inviting me to present at their annual fall meeting, plus giving me the opportunity to see how pecans are harvested with the aid of a tree shaker. LOL - no squirrels were harmed in this video.

Did you spot a spotted lanternfly? Take a picture or video and email [email protected], tell them the location, approximate number of and description of the sighting, preferred contact information, and if they can contact you about the sighting!

Spotted lanternflies are invasive and can be spread long distances by people who move infested material or items containing egg masses. If allowed to spread in the United States, this pest could seriously impact the countryโ€™s grape, orchard, and logging industries. The Spotted Lanternfly is native to China and was first detected in Pennsylvania in September 2014. Spotted lanternfly feeds on a wide range of fruit, ornamental and woody trees, with tree-of-heaven being one of the preferred hosts.
