SHPE | UIUC

SHPE | UIUC Welcome to SHPE | UIUC! SHPE | UIUC is a part of the school's Morrill Engineering Program (MEP) and has evolved tremendously since it first began.

The student chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers was established at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign during the 1985-1986 academic year by David Comparan (Class of '88), Carlos Martinez (Class of '88), and Perfecto Perales (Class of '87). It now has close relationships with La Casa Cultural Latina and other Latino organizations. In addition, SHPE | UIUC is increasing its already active involvement within the College of Engineering by participating in activities with other organizations such as the National Society of Black Engineers, Engineering Council, and the Society of Women Engineers.
