Chemistry REACT Program

Chemistry REACT Program REACT is a fun chemistry outreach/volunteer opportunity! It is a great way to interact with kids and show them how fun science can be.

The REACT Outreach Program (Reaching and Educating America's Chemists of Tomorrow) began in Fall 2002 (originally Kids & Chemistry). It has grown into the largest outreach program of its kind at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Each semester, the program visits local schools within a 30-mile radius of campus to work with youngsters in hands-on chemistry activities. The program also performs demonstration shows and visits local after-school facilities. Through the dedication and innovations of the undergraduate staff, the program continues to expand, delivering a variety of programs to many different facets of the communities in East Central Illinois. Special thanks to University of Illinois Department of Chemistry, Shell Oil Company, and Meijer for supporting the REACT Program.
