At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign during the Fall of 1990, a group of young men who wanted an organization that served the needs and wants of the Latino people, looked into establishing a fraternity. On October 20, 1990, this group met with Brothers from Gamma Chapter, Illinois State University and Founding Father Ric Zamudio at Papa Del's Pizza in Champaign, IL. Working with Brothers of Illinois State Universtiy, Western Illinois Universtiy, and Northern Illinois University, this group of men became a registered student organization with UIUC. Throughout the years SLB has become a long standing and dominant fraternity at UIUC. SLB is the oldest Latino Non-coed based fraternity on campus. Brothers have participated in the infamous 1992 Latino Student Protests, created U of I's annual Latino/a Fashion Show, Latino Formal, Fiesta, and other events on campus. SLB has NEVER died out on campus due strongly to their dedicated and passionate alumni network. In 31 years of existence Kappa Chapter has grown to 156 Brothers and continues to grow stronger! NATIONALLY, SIGMA LAMBDA BETA WAS FOUNDED APRIL 4TH, 1986 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA. OUR PRINCIPALS ARE SCHOLARSHIP, BROTHERHOOD, COMMUNITY SERVICE, AND CULTURAL AWARENESS. OUR MOTTO IS "OPPORTUNITY FOR WISDOM, WISDOM FOR CULTURE". WE ARE THE LARGEST LATINO FRATERNITY IN THE NATION! Some of our annual events include:

Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far! This Sunday one of our Alumni Bro. David H. “ImplaKable” Ayento will be having his first pop up shop at the Portage Park Farmers Market from 10am-2pm. Brother Ayento will be selling high end cutting boards and charcuterie boards.
