ONE ACT: ASPECT(S) performed with permission by Eldridge Plays
Synopsis: Aaron, an awkward high-schooler, is struggling to find the nerve to talk to his crush, Emily. After yet another failed attempt, three aspects of his personality, Confidence, Nervousness, and Doubt, appear to help him overcome his woes. These Aspects each demonstrate ways in which they think Aaron should woo Emily, but all end in failure (or just utter embarrassment). Just when all hope seems lost, Sam, the representation of the "true self," appears to offer some sage advice. When Aaron takes this advice, he successfully asks Emily out and exits in victory

ONE ACT: MURDER BOX performed with permission by Eldridge Plays
At the end of the 1940s an old theatre building is about to be torn down. As the theatre's acting troupe is packing up the props, costumes and set pieces, an old magician's trunk is wheeled onstage. Suddenly, members of the company are turning up dead. Margaret, the director's assistant, is the only witness to these crimes, seeing with her own eyes how Eve was strangled, Madigan bludgeoned, and Stan shot. ONE ACT: THE PITCH performed with permission by Eldridge Plays

A young, hungry writer in Hollywood finally has his chance to pitch his original ideas for movies, television shows, and commercials to a major producer. The writer’s ideas come to life on stage as he tries to sell one -- just one -- of his many wacky ideas. Consider (and laugh) as the writer presents previews of a big-budget movie entitled “Thumb Wars”; a reality show about mailmen called “Going Postal”; a game show with the revolting title “Guess What I Just Ate for Dinner”; and even a commercial for a new sports drink called “H2MayO: The First Drinkable Mayonnaise.” This fast-paced comedic one act will put your audience in the producer’s shoes as they watch pitch after hilarious pitch go down in flames. With a very simple set, a flexible cast, basic costumes, and household props, this is also the perfect one act for competitions and traveling.

ONE ACT: WHAT PARTY performed with permission by Eldridge Plays.
Chelsea is throwing a party while her parents are away, or so she thinks. When uninvited guests start showing up, including her grandma with gout-ridden episodes, a stern police officer with neighborhood complaints, Bonnie and Clyde-like outlaws, and even last year’s grads, Chelsea ends up with a different type of bash all together. And that’s not even including a sleepwalker and paranormal activities. This wild and crazy party is 35 minutes of escalating, nonstop hilarity!

The USHS One-Act plays will be performed Sunday, January 18th with curtain at 2:30p. The one acts are directed and performed by the students and this is the only Drama Club fundraiser for the year. Please come out and support the USHS arts and be entertained!
Tickets will be $10.

Auditions for this year’s musical Wizard of Oz will be held December 29th from 5p-7p (to 8p) with call backs (if needed)...

Auditions for this year’s musical Wizard of Oz will be held December 29th from 5p-7p (to 8p) with call backs (if needed) on December 30th from 3:30p - 5:30p. There are opportunities for lead roles as well as supporting and chorus roles.

Try-out music and scripts will be given at the audition.
Please dress in comfortable clothes and shoes.

VERY LONG CHEESEY POST INCOMING:

As I lay in my bed after this long weekend reflecting on how the last two months went leading up to the performances of Clue at my Alma mater of USHS I am filled with so much pride and love and I am truly humbled by the reception we received this weekend.

I am so incredibly proud of the group of kiddos I got to work with in putting this show together. The love and hard work they put into this show was inspiring. I already miss all of them and I just saw them less than 5 hours ago.

I am so proud of the team that helped us pull this amazing show off. From the set, the costumes, the props, the hair and makeup, and advertising… the show would not be the same without the help we had.

I am proud of the community for giving the kids THREE amazing shows filled with laughter and cheers and always ending in huge standing ovations.

I am forever grateful and proud of my amazing wife (and our wonderful assistant director) for taking care of our 3 and then 4 and now 5 month old son at home while I was at the school into the wee hours of the night and crushing it at helping me to direct the show. All while also working a full time job!

And of course I am proud of myself. I am so glad I could manage to pull off a show like this, but like I’ve said over and over this weekend. I had it easy with such an amazing group of kiddos and the best team ever.
