Yesterday, Lacordaire welcomed colleagues from our two sister schools, Mount St. Dominic Academy and Saint Dominic Academy , for a professional development session with the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell exploring “Charism in Action: The Corporate Stances of the Dominican Sisters.”
Our time together focused on what it means to translate Dominican charism into a shared response to the social realities of our time. We examined the Corporate Stances of the Dominican Sisters on issues including climate change, human trafficking, immigration and migration, the death penalty, and racism, and we spoke about our call to see ourselves as one community, bound by our shared humanity.
Through open dialogue, we considered: How do our Gospel values shape the way we understand justice? What does solidarity require of us? And how might our Dominican tradition call us, and inspire our students, to move from reflection to action?
We ended the day with a prayer service that brought us back to the foundation of the work: our shared responsibility to the students we educate and to the world we inhabit together. Many thanks to the Caldwell Dominicans for putting together this day of education, discussion, and prayer.
