Four Upper School students recently joined young people from four other Dominican high schools in NJ and NY for the annual Preachers Conference. During their time together, students learned about the Dominican charism (spirituality), formed new friendships, and prayed together. Ms. McFarlane, a Dominican lay associate, was a Keynote presenter. The students will share more about the experience when school resumes in the fall!

Laco Takes Japan! 🇯🇵
On their first and second full days in Japan, our Laco travel group explored the traditions and culture woven into everyday Japanese life. Students learned about the differences between Shintoism and Buddhism and how deeply these philosophies are ingrained in Japanese culture , not simply as religions but as ways of life.
The group visited Todai-ji Temple, where they encountered the Great Buddha, symbolizing peace and protection, before heading to Fushimi Inari Shrine, where visitors leave wishes and prayers for the spirits to hear. Students also enjoyed a sushi lunch and toured the historic Osaka Castle, learning about the shoguns who once ruled Japan. They ended the evening in one of Osaka’s most famous food districts, sampling local specialties and desserts.
On Day 2, the group explored the breathtaking Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, enjoyed a guided tour through Kyoto, sampled green tea ice cream, and visited the stunning Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji).
Stay tuned to see where their adventure takes them next!
