🍩🌞 Breakfast on the Green is THIS FRIDAY! 🎉

After an unexpected start to the school year, we’re especially excited to come together and celebrate making it through those unexpected obstacles! 💛

Let’s kick off the first Friday of the school year with our annual Breakfast on the Green and a chance to connect with our amazing Windermere community. 🎒✨

🍂 FALL AFTER-SCHOOL ENRICHMENT IS HERE! 🎨🤖

Windermere families, it’s time to start planning those after-school adventures! Registration for Fall Session 1 is officially open, with classes running Tuesday, September 8 through Thursday, October 15, 2026.

This session brings back some favorites, plus exciting new opportunities for students to learn, create and have fun - including American Sign Language, back by popular demand! 🙌 Other new offerings include The Artists Playground, Let's Make Fashion and Art Games with John Novak. 🎨🖌️

From the UA School Board:

After consulting with the City of Upper Arlington about conditions in the neighborhoods around our schools, and as we continue to wait for power to be restored at several buildings, we have made the difficult decision to delay the start of school for students until Monday, August 17.

This will reduce car and foot traffic in those neighborhoods, giving crews the space they need to continue their work and helping ensure our buildings, grounds, streets, and sidewalks are safe when students return.

We will follow our normal staggered start schedule next week:

📅 Monday, Aug. 17: Grades 1–5, 6 and 9 begin; Kindergarten Orientation for students previously scheduled for Wednesday
📅 Tuesday, Aug. 18: Grades 1–12 in session; Kindergarten Orientation for students previously scheduled for Thursday
📅 Wednesday, Aug. 19: All K–12 students in session

Burbank Early Childhood School will begin as scheduled on Monday, Aug. 17.

This certainly is not the start to the school year that we had hoped for, but we know that we have many, many families who are still dealing with damaged homes, power outages, and other challenges. We hope that this allows you to plan for the week and that we can all come back together next week for a strong start to the year.

Windermere is also rescheduling our Breakfast on the Green to next Friday, August 21st.

From Upper Arlington Schools -

Due to the damage and continuing power outages from today’s storms at our schools and in many areas of our community, we will be canceling school tomorrow — Wednesday, August 12 — for all of our schools, including the UA Online Academy.

As of now, assuming power is restored, we intend to resume school on Thursday, August 13, by shifting our schedule forward one day as follows:

Thursday, August 13: Kindergarten Orientation and first day for grades 1-6 and 9
Friday, August 14: Kindergarten Orientation and school in session for grades 1-12
Monday, August 17: First day for PreK at Burbank and school will be in session for all students in grades K-12
We will provide an update tomorrow after we are able to assess the status of our school buildings. We will also assess the potential rescheduling of any events that have been canceled, particularly the Meet the Teacher events at the elementary level.

We know that many of you and your families have been impacted by these storms beyond our schools. Please take care of yourselves and your families.

“We are assessing our ability to reopen our buildings tomorrow and will share more information later today. We continue to encourage you to avoid being on the roads and coming to our buildings to allow local safety officials and our team to do their part of the cleanup efforts.”

💙🦅 We can't wait to meet our newest kindergarten students and their families!

Join us for a Kindergarten Playground Playdate on Thursday, August 6 at 5:30 PM. It's a great chance for our future Hawks to play, make new friends, and get excited for the school year.

The PTO will be there with FREE popsicles to help everyone cool off and celebrate! 🍦
