With everything changing around student loans right now, this is something premed families should absolutely have on their radar.

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) recently shared an update outlining upcoming changes that could impact future medical students—especially when it comes to borrowing, repayment options, and long-term planning.

If your student is considering medical school, this isn’t something to look at later—it should be part of the conversation now as they think about timing, school list, and overall strategy.

A few things to keep in mind as you read:
• These changes may affect how much students can borrow and under what terms
• Repayment structures and forgiveness programs could shift
• The financial side of choosing a medical school is becoming even more important
