Some FFC instructors and students took a break from Socal in exchange for some class Bravo procedure training in Honolulu. Getting out of familiar surroundings has definitely honed our skills! Looking forward to being back at CCB with everyone.
More social distancing on the slopes. 😂😎 heading to L35 with Felix Hernandez.
The perks of being flight instructors. Free flight and lunch at L35 Big Bear City airport. YES. The restaurant is open. 🍳 🥓 🥤. Thanks Felix Hernandez for the flight N79028. 🙏🙏.
Kurt Berntsen is almost done with his CFI checkride. GO KURT!!!!🛫✈️🛩🚁
Beautiful day for lunch at catalina in 733JA
Beautiful day out here today. The rain broke and the ceiling is lifting. Swing by for a coffee and some aviation talk
What a beautiful day at KCCB. Lots of flying going on, hot coffee from the restaurant, good friends and even better vibes. And what a great day to slap new stickers on our cars !
Good morning aviators. We have a beautiful rainbow over our favorite place today. Ceiling and visibility are pretty inhibited but it's a beautiful day to be at the airport with hot coffee and maybe a little studying. Happy Friday !
Happy Monday aviators. Its snowing at KCCB today...
Happy Tuesday aviators! Here's a little gem of aviation knowledge for students that may not have come across it.
We learn early on that immediately after startup we adjust the throttle to approx. 1000 RPM (based on AFM/POH specs). Why is this important ? Immediately after starting, it takes time for oil pressure to build and begin lubricating the system. The AFM/POH may specify an acceptable oil pressure range after startup (the green arc in a 172R such as N365ES is 50-90PSI). Depending on outside air temperature, it takes between 30 and 60 seconds for this pressure to rise. Operating at higher engine RPM with oil pressure below this value may cause undue engine wear as a result of insufficient lubrication during this period.
