Prop 1 Levels the Field for Small City School Districts

RSA Executive Director Dave Little appeared on this week’s Empire State Weekly program on ABC to explain Prop 1 to allow Small City School Districts to have the same debt limit as all other schools in New York State. Many small city districts cover an enlarged area surrounding them and include rural areas. Their lower debt limit also affects BOCES funding and their ability to provide programming. The state legislature has already passed a bill (already signed by Gov. Hochul) to give small city districts the same legal debt limit as other districts, provided Prop 1 is authorized by voters.
