What a great article in the Wellington Town-Crier by Mike May highlighting the remarkable comeback story of my former basketball player, Justin Sitomer. š
At just 22 years old, Justin was in the prime of his life. He had recently gotten married, launched his career as a barber, and had a bright future ahead of him. Then, without warning, he suffered a stroke that left him facing paralysis and a long road to recovery.
What has inspired me most is the way Justin has battled back. His recovery continues to be a daily challenge, but he keeps showing up, keeps working, and keeps moving forward.
I believe many of the lessons Justin learned through sports have helped shape his comeback: perseverance, refusing to quit, and relying on the support of teammates, family, friends, and his faith. Those qualities are on display every single day.
Justin, I am incredibly proud of you and the example you continue to set for others facing adversity. Your story reminds us that setbacks donāt have to define usāour response to them does.
Keep on Keepinā On, Justin Sitomer! Iāll be back soon for another haircut.
Thank you, Mike May, for sharing Justinās inspiring story with our community.

As if seeing Justin back behind the chair wasnāt enough of a blessing, I received another pleasant surprise during my visit. Another former player, David Lopez, is also working at the same barbershop and doing great! It was wonderful catching up with David, hearing how heās doing, and seeing him thrive. As a coach, thereās nothing better than watching former players succeed in life and their careers. Proud of both Justin and David!

Yesterday I had the chance to hang out at the barbershopāand not just any barbershop.
My former player, Justin Sitomer, is officially back behind the chair at Latch Life Wellington (next to Whole Foods) after returning this past Tuesday, May 26.
After suffering a serious stroke on Christmas Eve and enduring six months of recovery, my favorite barber is finally back doing what he loves mostāhelping people look and feel their best. šāļø
This comeback is about much more than haircuts. Itās a story of faith, determination, perseverance, and refusing to give up. I was able to get a fresh cut today, and Justin did an outstanding job!
Letās help spread the word and support Justin during this incredible comeback. Appointments are now open, and I have a feeling those spots will fill up fast. If youāre looking for a great barber, book an appointment through Booksy and show Justin some love.
A huge thank you to everyone who prayed for, encouraged, and supported Justin and the Sitomer family throughout this journey. Now letās help get him fully booked again! šāļøš„š

Big time congrats to Ori Tsalach on his commitment to Yeshiva University!
Oriās journey is what development and dedication are all about. He came to play for me two years ago, then took the next step with the SIAA National team, and doubled down this year with a post-grad seasonāputting in the work every single day to earn this opportunity. Nothing was givenāeverything was earned.
Yeshiva is one of the top D3 programs in the country, and theyāre getting a competitor, a worker, and a high-character young man who will represent the program the right way.
Proud of you, Ori. This is just the beginning. Keep building. šŖš

Coach Lantz ā Lasting Memories from My First City of Palms Classic High School Basketball Tournament.
Attending my first-ever 52nd Annual City of Palms High School Basketball Classic in Naples, Florida, left me with lasting memories and a deep appreciation for the game.
First, I was in complete shock and awe at the caliber of play. The speed, size, skill, and heart displayed by these high school players and coaches from all over the country was remarkable. For me, it felt like watching the Red Zone of high school basketballāa level of play I had never witnessed before.
The final day was basketball heaven: six games in twelve hours. A coachās dream and pure joy for a basketball ju**ie like me.
Second, what truly stood out was watching the very young kids in the stands, eyes wide, dreaming that one day they would be on that floor playing the game they love. I was especially impressed by how kind and respectful the players were when those young fans asked for autographs. It was a great reminder that our youth are always watchingāevery move, the good, the bad, and the ugly. High school players have a powerful influence on the next generation, not just in basketball, but in the game of life.
I even had the opportunity to help a couple of players who literally dove into the seating area near where I was sitting on the floor. Helping them up in the heat of battle and seeing how thankful they were reminded me why I love this game so much.
Third, the competition was physical, and the officials I watched did an outstanding job. They allowed the game to be played with toughness while consistently making the obvious calls. Coming from a coach, I thought the referees worked extremely well as a unit throughout the tournament.
Fourth, a special shout-out to my friend and high school teammate, John Felder. He was gracious in inviting me, and it was great to meet his wife and connect over our shared Mexican heritage.
John is a part owner of Palm City Iron Works, a company that is heavily involved in the community and operates across the U.S. and internationally. Along with other local businesses, they played a huge role in making this holiday tournament a success. They have truly set the blueprint for excellence for any school looking to run a holiday tournament. I learned a great deal about how to do it the right way if I ever plan one in the future.
John had been telling me for 18 years to come. Iām so glad I finally did. It felt like hooking a largemouth bassāIām officially hooked. This will now be an annual event for me, and hopefully next time I can bring all the Lantz boys and girls with me.
Fifth, the championship game could not have been scripted any betterācoming down to big shots and clutch free throws to seal the win.
Congratulations to Pope VI High School (New York) on winning the entire tournament. They had the complete package and earned every bit of that championship.
Lastly, as a huge Duke fan, it was special to see Coach Jon Scheyer up close recruiting Jordan Smith Jr., the tournament MVP. Smith scored 31 points in the championship game and led Pope VI to the title. Iām very confident weāll be seeing him in a Duke Blue Devils uniform in the near future.
If you have never experienced the City of Palms Classic, I strongly encourage you to attend if you love basketball. Donāt wait 18 years like I did. Once you go, I promiseāyouāll be hooked.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
