The Lumberton Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated was chartered on August 24, 1984, as a result of the spearheading efforts of Vernon E. McHam, a Fall 1963 initiate of the Gamma Omicron Chapter at St. Augustine’s College and William Young, a Spring 1970 initiate of the Epsilon Beta Chapter at Fayetteville State University. These two individuals, along with eight others, becam

e the charter members of Lumberton Alumni. These members were Brothers Thomas Walker, Alexander Killens, William Clark, Clark Windley, Eilliot Lemon, H.A. “Pete” Cunningham, Reverend Harris G. Thompson, Dr. Arthur Robinson, Sr., William Young, and Vernon E. All charter members were subscribers in the Kappa Alpha Psi Life Membership Program. Individual members of the chapter, from its inception to the present, have found themselves, by their own professions, engaged in almost all of the human endeavors that make life and living in Lumberton, Red Springs, Rowland, and Fairmont, the various locales of the Brothers. The tradition has been reaffirmed and is destined to continue.

Lumberton (NC) Alumni Chapter — Planning with Purpose ♦️

This past Saturday, August 22, 2026, the Lumberton (NC) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. held its Annual Planning Retreat.

The Brothers came together for a productive day of planning, training, and fellowship as we developed our calendar for the upcoming year and continued preparing ourselves to make a meaningful impact.

With a clear vision and a renewed commitment to Achievement in Every Field of Human Endeavor, the Lumberton (NC) Alumni Chapter is prepared to serve, lead, and positively impact the Lumberton community and surrounding areas.

We look forward to a successful year of brotherhood, community service, mentorship, and engagement.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who came out and supported our Kaftans, Stogies & Musik scholarship fundraiser. Your presence, energy, and generosity helped make this event a tremendous success.

Whether you purchased a ticket, volunteered, sponsored , were a vendor , or simply showed up to enjoy the evening, we truly appreciate your support. Because of you, we’re able to continue investing in scholarships and serving our community.

This was just the beginning. We’re already looking forward to making next year’s event even bigger, even better, and even more unforgettable!
