On April 25th, 2026 we held a very successful Ladies Only course. The turnout was amazing and everyone seems to have enjoyed it! Thank you Tiffanie Love for setting everything in motion!

Big shoutout to the people who came out and helped me keep things moving, specifically:
SBG Athens - Girls in Gis all-stars Coach Katrina and Melody who came out and showed the ladies some unarmed defensive skills.
My favorite stepsons Cody and Jeremy, along with Hunter, John, and other John of the Gun Club staff, who ran some shoot house instruction and helped maintain range safety for me.
And the ever-reliable Ben Ewing, who is a value add to anything he instructs.

Course material covered:
- GA law and use of force
- Weapon cleaning and maintenance
- BJJ concepts for unarmed defense
- Basic shoot house tactics for home defense
- Range time with semi-auto pistols, revolvers, and the AR-15

We will look to hold another Ladies Class on this format later in the year.

Due to safety concerns, the Sig 320 pistol in any variant will not be allowed on the range or in any training conducted through Sparrow Defense at any venue.

Should you have a conflict or concern with this policy, please contact us directly. You won't change our minds, but maybe we can find you a pistol that doesn't experience "unassisted firing" issues.

This week we added multiple new course offerings for safety training. We have added a youth-specific fi****ms safety option that allows the entire family to attend together.

We have also added intermediate offerings in pistol, rifle, and shotgun safety training. These courses are chiefly mechanics-based and bridge the gap between our new shooter offerings and advanced content. They are also a means of qualifying for our Skill Builder series.

Defensive Pistol I is our entry-level concealed carry pistol course. Perfect for those who are familiar with fi****ms and looking to start working from the holster.

We'll cover marksmanship and the fundamentals, and then we'll move on to applying those to solving problems in real time.

This course uses non-lethal marking ammunition as you engage live role-players. Work through a variety of scenarios that require you to use good judgment and marksmanship.

Introduction to Structures - Sparrow Defense This 1-day / 10 hour course will not make you into a SWAT operator. This course WILL provide the student with a fundamental skill set for working doorways, hallways, rooms, and transitional spaces. The course will also incorporate threat identification and engagement in low light environments. These

Skill Builder is going live this coming Saturday! This is a recurring block of training on the first Saturday of the month. This is a monthly skills session that covers all Defensive Pistol I and Defensive Pistol II content over the course of 12 months.

Attending shooters must have prior formal training with a competent instructor. Shooters attending for the first time will be asked to describe their prior fi****ms training.

You can enroll in one or both sessions. Each session is its own block of instruction requiring 100 rounds of ammunition.
8:00 AM - 10:00 AM: Pistol Skill Builder
10:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Rifle Skill Builder

We will be using the Barrow County Sheriff's Office Range in Bethlehem, GA for all Skill Builder sessions in 2024.

Low Light Pistol will close out our 2023 season this coming Saturday, December 9th.

Class runs from 12p-10p.

Course content includes classroom and range work supporting shooting in low / no-light environments:
- Seeing in lit vs. low/no-light conditions
- Types of flashlights and their relative strengths
- Hand held and weapon mounted light techniques
- Using a light inside a structure

Range exercises will be performed in daylight conditions before breaking for dinner. After returning to the range, students will perform shooting drills and solve problems in dusk and then dark conditions using handheld and weapons mounted lights.

After the live-fire portion of the class is over, we move into the shoot house using SIRT pistols to demonstrate how the structure changes how lights work when conducting searches or performing shooting tasks.
