Room One would like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!! 🦃 We enjoyed a nice fall walk today and we collected leaves to enjoy learning about back in our classroom.

Pumpkin Jack Update from DarNek Head Start
On Monday morning I walked in to “Ms. Barb look it popped.” The students were excited to notice and share the biggest change we have seen in our Pumpkin Jack. During large group we talked about what we noticed and observed. Our Pumpkin Jack collapsed and is rotting away or decomposing! We read a nonfiction book and discussed what we think will happen to Pumpkin Jack next.
The saga of Pumpkin Jack continues and the teachers are excited to see the kids noticing and observing the changes!!!

We learned that honeybees live in trees but there are also beekeepers who help them by building wooden hive boxes and cate for them to help ensure their survival. Part of the way they help them is by ensuring they have plenty of food for winter. Beekeepers provide this extra food in the form of a sugarboard. We learned all about helping honeybees and got to help make two sugarboards. We talked about how a bee needs sugar to survive but it would not be healthy for us to eat all that sugar. We have been busy at DarNek Head Start with our Tree study, observing Pumpkin Jack’s slow changes, and preparing for Thanksgiving. View our photo comments to learn more about what we have been up to.

ALL CALL FOR A CHRISTMAS TREE. Classroom B at Killian would love to decorate a small Christmas tree with our students. If you have or know someone who would love to donate a tree to out classroom we would appreciate it.

Ending our Tree Study here at Tamarack classroom A by playing in the leave and investigating how much they have changed over the past five weeks.

Halloween Fun 🎃

Room One also wrapped up our clothes study this month and tied in some pumpkin fun as well!!

DarNek Head Start had an amazing week. We made our very own ghost and enjoyed guessing which ghost belonged to each other by looking at their feet. We received some very cute Halloween costumes for our baby dolls from a kind grandparent. We also enjoyed a few new toys- someone seems to know Ms.Barb very well- we got a fine motor bee set, a very nice wooden toy coffee maker and some Delia looking wooden sweets. All of Ms. Barb’s favorite things for her favorite friends. We enjoyed reading Pumpkin Jack and creating our very own Pumpkin Jack experiment which will take us an entire year to watch. We will keep you posted on our progress and success or failure. We had fun trick or treating to all the other classrooms and a few of our friends brought us in treats also.
