A refreshing change for Americans isolated outside the Kabul airport. Not suprising that the difference in this recent case was the 'in-extremis' authority assumed by a local U.S. military commander who "made the call on the spot" to send the helicopters that rescued the American citizens that had been hunkered down at a nearby hotel.
remains a US military ethos, and that's a good thing for those in a world of chaos.
