Summer is HERE and we are kicking things off in the BEST way possible — and we want YOU there! Rock the Block: Unplugged is a scaled, intentional version of our long-running Rock the Block street festival-bringing the heart of Southtown together in a closer, more connected space.

This year's event focuses on what matters most: building relationships, celebrating culture, and expanding access to critical resources, that support wellness, housing, and opportunity for all.

Last Friday was our Third Annual Glimmer Awards Ceremony! We recognized staff for an array of achievements, including attendance, years of service, winning some end-of-year competitions, and of course our big ticket item--exemplifying our agency's Core Values. Congratulations to our all of winners, and we hope all of our staff have a phenomenal summer!

We are excited to announce the opening of the Early Childhood Learning Center at The Rapid Central Station in Grand Rapids. In partnership with W.K. Kellogg Foundation, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, Grand Rapids Public Schools, The Rapid Transit Authority, and Pure Architects, we are honored to be a part of this project and attend the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, June 8th.

The facility aims to make childcare more accessible and affordable for bus riders. The center is officially open and children enrolled will start in September!

We're excited for our Sneaker Ball this Friday, but our kids got to walk the Red Carpet first at the last Family Engagement Event of the program year at Sparta Head Start! They're ready to walk RIGHT into summer break--with style!

Summer is HERE! Now that the program year is over, we're starting up our Summer Engagement Events! Come join us at parks and playgrounds around Kent County for all sorts of family friendly activities!
