The Autism Society of Oregon is hosting an online Intersectional Identity Support & Discussion Group! 🏳️‍🌈 ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

(Online) Intersectional Identity Group - Support and Discussion Group for Autistic Adults with Intersectional Identities, age 18+
Monday Feb 3, 2025 ⋅ 1:30pm – 3pm (Pacific Time - Los Angeles)
Meets online every Monday, from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.

The purpose of this group is to cultivate a safe space to process and discuss what it’s like to have an intersectional autistic identity in the world (e.g., autistic people who are also: people of color, trans, q***r, gender q***r, assigned female at birth, etc).

Please note, this is not to assume that we will all understand each other's experience, but that we do understand having an intersectional identity comes with extra complexities.

This is a peer support group facilitated by an Autistic Trans and Q***r person.

Q: How long have you worked here for?
A: I’ll be going on 3 years in May.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes! I have two cats, two girl cats. Luna and Petunia. Luna’s an angel, but Petunia’s a little devil.
Q: What’s one of your favorite memories from working at Trellis?
A: Wow, I have so many! Just our company parties—connecting with people outside of my community and getting to know them on a whole different level. I felt that when we had the going away party for Megan [our previous Portland Employment Manager] and Chris [our previous Salem Employment Manager]. I was able to get to know more people from Trellis and kind of bond with them what way.
Q: Can you describe your perfect pizza?
A: Definitely a cold one, cause I hate hot pizza. Pepperoni. I know it sounds gross, but pineapple, cause I’m a pineapple gal, and bacon. Green onion, for some reason, it—I tried it once and it was a game changer.
Q: Do you have any favorite Christmas traditions?
A: My Christmas tradition is pretty much putting up the tree and listening to Christmas music as soon as Halloween is over. It’s just me and my daughter, so we watch as many Christmas movies as we can and always go to look at the Christmas lights.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: I cannot answer that one. There’s just so many places I would die to have a chance to go to! I’ve always wanted to go to Cuba, because I’m Cuban, so I would like to experience that. That would be something.
