We are delighted to share a significant milestone for the Hazel Miller Croy Reading Center and the CSU, Fullerton Department of Literacy and Reading Education. Drs. Soomin Chao and Laura Keisler have secured a partnership with the OC Department of Education to establish the first-ever Project GLAD® Research & Development Center (RDC). It will be housed at the Reading Center. Project GLAD® (Guided Language Acquisition Design) is a nationally recognized instructional model with over 40 years of history supporting multilingual learners through language-rich, content-integrated teaching. This partnership bridges university research capacity with district-level expertise, creating a dedicated hub where educator experiences are studied, practitioner voices are centered, and findings are used to strengthen the evidence base for GLAD® implementation across PreK–12 settings. For the HMC Reading Center, this means a new and ongoing role as a Foundations Training site, a year-round professional learning hub, and a future live classroom demonstration site, all while opening a meaningful funding stream that supports our center's mission.
