When I was a 10th grade English teacher, I had wonderful students who struggled with reading. My students worked hard at comprehension, fluency, diction, and sustained reading. However, the one thing they had in common was that they did not enjoy reading. After a heart-to-heart class discussion, I learned their disdain for reading originated from difficulties they experienced in the first grade. T

his information inspired me to create programs that would motivate students to develop a love for reading.

I had the wonderful opportunity to present my book at Burst Into Books, and awesome bookstore on Chicago's Southside. I was a bit nervous. But with the support of family and friends, I made it through! Thank you, Jurema Gorham, for having me!!

Hi friends! 👋 It's been a while since we last connected. I've missed you! Are you still reading? 📚 I hope so! Usually, I share graduation announcements on Miss Elaine's Read Along. However, this year, Engineer Evan is graduating, and he has his mama extra busy!!! ☺️🤗 My dream was to have him come from behind his desk and join me on the show before he graduated. 🎓Unfourtunately, that wasn't going to be possible.
Creating and working on Miss Elaine's Read Along with my son over the past 4 years have been one of the most fulfilling times in my life. He may never know just how much it all meant to me. 🥹
That's why I'm so wildly excited that we were able to team up one more time for Mother's Day. Oh, it was the BEST gift I could ever receive. ❤️
