It is with profound sadness our family informs our Quilt Odyssey community and family on the passing of Missy Molino, founder of Quilt Odyssey, on Saturday June 24, 2023 at John's Hopkins in Baltimore MD. She was surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held July 20, 2023 at 2 pm at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home in Shippensburg PA. Visitation will be from 12 til 2 pm the same date.
We know many of you felt Missy was part of your family, a piece of your creative journey and she wholeheartedly felt the same. Other than her grandchildren and husband of 50 years it gave her such joy organizing and hosting such a treasured event for 20 years.
We will truly be lost without her, but hope her legacy lives on thru the memories you made at Quilt Odyssey and thru your quilts you may have been inspired to create.
We thank you for the outpouring of cards and well wishes while she was hospitalized. She read each one and it gave her added strength and positivity for the day to do the tough things she was faced with. We are so thankful that we had this community to wrap their arms and quilts around Missy when she needed it most.
In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter at 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
With gratitude
The Molino Family

Good evening old friends... it's been a long while. This is Jenna, Missy's daughter. I was just looking at the last post and can't believe its been over a year! Much has changed and I'm here to give an update and graciously asking for your help.
Missy received her liver transplant in April 2022. It was a long surgery but the new liver has been doing its job. But Missy has had many set backs with other things that have complicated recovery, so we are still on the waiting list for a kidney - but its coming ... soon... we just have to get her health and spirits back up!
That's where I need some of our Quilt Odyssey Family help. Lara (my sister) and I have come up with an idea to boost Missy's spirits! HAPPY MAIL. Send a card , drop a note of encouragement, a joke, or just a HI! Dialysis takes a lot of energy and being secluded due to her weakened immune system she can't have visitors. We do ask that you don't call. I know she'd love to talk to you all but her energy levels just aren't there and to be honest she and Dave take naps as much as she can to keep her as well rested as possible. Sleep helps to heal. We (Lara and I ) really appreciate your help with this little project... and we know it will send all the positive vibes and prayers Missy needs right now to ride this out til the kidney is available.
So if you have a minute, please send Missy a card or note to say Hi! The address is the same: 15004 Burnt Mill Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
Thank you and Happy and Healthy Holidays to ALL OF YOU! May you stay warm under your quilts this winter season!

Good afternoon Quilters, Friends and Family. This is Jenna, Missy’s daughter. I know it’s been a while. I hope this finds you and your families healthy and safe from COVID and all its variants. I know we kept it pretty hush about the WHY we cancelled the 2020 Quilt Odyssey, just saying for health reasons. Mom(Missy) gave me permission to share that it was HER health. She was diagnosed in the winter of 2019 with liver failure. The doctors can’t completely say why but have been treating it as best they can. Weekly periosynthesis procedures have been able to alleviate the fluid but while treating the liver failure the doctors found that her Kidneys were also failing. In March 2020 she was put on the deceased donor list at John Hopkins.
Because of Missy’s low MELD score over the last year, she was given the not so great news this past week that she really has no hope of getting a deceased donor liver and kidney because the score is so low and despite the doctors efforts to help her lift it to an acceptable score, after a year they just haven’t seen it go up. It was heartbreaking news. Our family knows this is a long shot but the doctors at John Hopkins advised us to use ALL AVENUES to look for a living organ donor for a liver and a kidney.
It took me a few days to write this because how do you ask “would you be willing to donate a kidney or a part of your liver to my Mom?” The doctors said ALL AVENUES and with mom’s permission I am asking. If you are willing to direct donate a part of your liver (they take approx. 50% of yours and it regenerates to 100% in about 3 months) or a kidney (you really only need one), please go online to John Hopkins Live Organ Donor program. You can request that your liver or kidney if matches, can be donated directly to Missy Molino. Your request is confidential. You’ll need to do a physical and mental evaluation. At any time during the process you can change your mind, you won’t be required or asked to continue with the donation. Going thru this myself with my step-daughter in Sept 2019 I can tell you that the doctors on the donor side work directly with you. Mom’s doctors are not part of the process until the liver or kidney are ready to transplant. They don’t know who you are and neither will we unless you tell us. You can be anywhere in the US to donate I believe (you do not have to be near Baltimore John Hopkins though that would be best). Thanks for considering. If you have questions or cannot find the form, please feel free to message me via the Quilt Odyssey Page.
Blessings of good health to you all thru the rest of the year….

Good afternoon everyone.
I know everyone was excitedly waiting to see if Quilt Odyssey would happen in 2021. Unfortunately we will not be having another Quilt Odyssey. Missy has officially retired from organizing the show. Not only due to her own health concerns but the health and safety of others in regards to social distancing as well as time needed to properly execute a show worth attending, Missy felt it was time to close the curtain on this chapter of Quilt Odyssey.
You all have become our family. We will be forever grateful for the experiences and friendships along the way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the simply amazing 20 years of Quilt Odyssey.
Until we meet again.
Your Quilt Odyssey Family.

It is with heavy hearts, we announce Quilt Odyssey will not be taking place this year. Due to health concerns we must cancel the show scheduled for July 23-25, 2020 in Hershey, PA. We apologize to our Quilt Odyssey family including our registrants, visitors, merchants, sponsors, teachers and staff. Quilt Odyssey has been part of our family for two decades and this decision didn’t come without many thoughtful hours of consideration for our entire community. We will miss seeing all of you this summer.
Because the rumors will fly – please note officially: We did not sell the company, nor did we partner or merge with any organization. We will still have future retreats and we will not rule out a future quilt show, but right now, a focus on health is necessary.
Our Quilt Odyssey facebook and website will still be here to announce any upcoming future events. Our email is still live and we will answer any message if you send them thru facebook or email as we are able.
We appreciate your love for all things Quilt Odyssey and wish you health and happiness this holiday season and into the new year.
With love,
The Molino Family
