🎒🏫 Tuesday's Tea 🫖
Today marks the beginning of 10th and 5th grades for my kids. This morning, I enjoyed a Yeti full of tea and a calm start to the day, an experience we each helped create yesterday by packing backpacks, gathering sports gear, prepping food, packing snacks, filling water bottles, and picking out outfits.
I always joke that we're never more organized and ready for a day of school than we are on Day 1 of 180. 😆
As the kids settled back into their desk seats, I settled into mine in my home office or as I like to call it, The Annex.
In honor of the first day of school, I pulled up a professional organizing course, read a few related articles, and spent an hour learning about "Clutter, Cortisol, and Compassion: A Real-World Approach to Mental Health & Organizing."
The course was a grounding reminder as I begin developing my presentation for the YWCA Hanover Emerge Women's Conference, where I'll be speaking about reframing decluttering and organizing as self-care instead of a chore.
I chose this topic because self-care is the foundation of everything I do at An Eye to Simplify. My work is intended to help people discover that decluttering and organizing are tools of self-care just like exercise, a massage, skincare, or a manicure.
Yes, An Eye to Simplify is a business, but its mission, to inspire, motivate, and empower people to simplify their life to create time and space for what matters most to them, is very personal.
Every day I work to share my passion to advocate for myself and others who find it so easy to take care of everyone and everything else but feel guilty taking care of themselves.
I hope that message comes through and helps fill your cup of tea on days you need it most. 💞
