- Enrolled in an associate degree or eligible certificate program in manufacturing or skilled trades
- Have completed at least two semesters (or 50% of their program)
- Attending school or living within 50 miles of a Dow community

🧪🦺 Day 2 of the BASF Tech Academy gave students an up-close look at the skills and knowledge that power Louisiana's industrial workforce!

Participants spent the day exploring welding, safety, and laboratory science through a series of immersive, hands-on experiences designed to connect classroom concepts with real-world careers.

Highlights included:
✅ Exploring welding fundamentals through a Virtual Welding Simulator
✅ Learning the importance of workplace safety and industry best practices
✅ Investigating pH levels and quality control processes in RPCC's Chemistry Science Lab
✅ Touring Ascension Roofing & Fabrication and engaging directly with industry professionals

A special thank you to our partners at Ascension Roofing and Fabrication - JRE, LLC for providing an outstanding facility tour and giving students the opportunity to ask questions, learn from experienced professionals, and gain valuable insight into careers in the skilled trades.

We're excited to see what Day 3 has in store as students continue exploring the many career pathways available in energy sciences!

🔧⚙️ Day 1 of the BASF Tech Academy is officially in the books!

Students kicked off the week with an exciting introduction to the world of precision manufacturing, mechanical systems, and industrial technology. Throughout the day, participants explored careers in CNC machining, millwright work, and drafting and design while gaining hands-on experience with real-world industry concepts.

Highlights included:
✅ Learning the fundamentals of precision manufacturing and mechanical systems
✅ Participating in a CNC Plasma Table fabrication scenario
✅ Exploring mechanical systems assembly and alignment
✅ Interpreting blueprints and applying drafting and design principles
✅ Visiting industry partner John H. Carter for a firsthand look at advanced industrial technology in action

A huge thank you to BASF and John H. Carter for helping provide these valuable career exploration experiences. We can't wait to see what our students discover throughout the rest of the week!

We were honored to welcome campers from the APSO Best Ever Summer Camp 2026 to River Parishes Community College!

From exploring campus and learning about educational opportunities to participating in engaging, hands-on activities, it was a pleasure to share what RPCC has to offer with the next generation of leaders.

Thank you to Wanda August, Sheriff Bobby Webre, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, camp volunteers, parents, and campers for spending part of your summer with us. We are proud to support opportunities that inspire young people to dream big, discover new possibilities, and begin envisioning their future.

Today, we welcomed the newest cohort of students to BASF Tech Academy for orientation, where they took their first step toward an exciting week of exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning about STEM careers in the River Region.

Next week, students will engage with industry professionals, tour facilities, participate in interactive activities, and gain firsthand insight into the opportunities available right here in our region.
