Appalachian Memory Keepers

Appalachian Memory Keepers A bit of history, mystery, and authentic Appalachian culture. We are a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We think that is a tragedy.

If you are a History House/Museum, a regional Travel Authority, or a private citizen interested in a Collab, contact us! *NOTE: Appalachian Memory Keepers is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Influencer/Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate, we earn a small commision from qualifying purchases made at https://www.amazon.com/shop/appalachianmemorykeepers. We are a group of volunteers who

have formed a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing Appalachian history, culture and stories. The sad truth is that the people who know this history, who lived this history, are passing, on a daily basis….and many of their stories of old Appalachia are being forever lost. We believe that these people and their stories deserve respect, and have value…tremendous value. These stories should be kept alive because although the world is far different today….the information in these stories should never be lost. Our children and their children’s children need to know from whence they came. They need to know their authentic Appalachian heritage…and not the one that is so often frequently and foolishly stereotyped in pop culture. Appalachian Memory Keepers is dedicated to preserving and sharing these stories and memories thru modern media, including film, podcast, photographs, and online articles

We invite you to explore our site and see all the great content that we have collected. We encourage you to follow us on facebook and other social media. This weathered house in Macon County, North Carolina, has surely seen generations come and go. That long front porch may have once been a gathering place on summer evenings, while smoke curled from those tall chimneys on cold mountain mornings. Children may have played in the yard, meals were shared around a kitchen table, and countless ordinary days became family memories.

The boards are weathered now and the tin roof carries the marks of time, but the old house still stands — quietly holding onto its stories.
