Treehouse Music Studio

Our Story

My name is Stephen Bellm and I own and operate Treehouse Music Studio. The Studio was born in 2011, when I moved back from overseas to a new home on Carolina Beach. My first studio was a loft in an old house and it was surrounded by big trees, hence the name. I had about 10 students sign up for that first school year and have grown each year. Now in a new home OTB in the Cape, the studio takes up a couple of rooms and is filled with many varieties of instruments and close to 40 weekly students of all ages.

I’ve played music from birth. My mom was a piano teacher and I took years of classical piano lessons. In grade school I started trumpet and played that instrument right through University Jazz band. I picked up guitar as a teenager and joined a rock band that toured and had a van life adventure. I moved to India and studied Tabla with a master for 5 years. That was epic and taught me complex rhythms, how to accompany and exposed me to the greatest musicians on the planet. I moved to Spain for 10 years and performed with Flamenco artists and ran a small solar powered recording studio in the mountains. Now I am here, to share my knowledge, inspire kids to pick up an instrument and help them see the big picture.

I offer lessons in Piano, Guitar, Trumpet, Bass Guitar, Ukulele, Tabla, Djembe and Hand Percussion lessons for beginners to advanced, ages 6-106!
I can teach in many styles: classical, jazz, blues, improvising, ear training, composing, arranging and recording.
