Thank you so much to everyone who came to any of our WGSS Pathway Launch Parties yesterday and today! It was such a joy to see you all, feel your enthusiasm and support, learn from your expertise, and reaffirm our shared commitment to WGSS curricula and feminist praxis at CCC!

UPDATE: The Academic Catalog page has been corrected to reflect the two core courses that were left off accidentally: Hum 146 Intro to LGBTQ+ Studies and Soc 107 Sociology of S*x and Gender. We can't live without those!

We are simply heartbroken by the loss of our close colleague two mornings ago after a long fight against cancer. Valerie Pell (pictured right) was a talented writer, passionate educator, mentor to her colleagues, and an absolutely tireless advocate for WGSS and our students. She built the program from the ground up at Wright College and worked collaboratively with us across the district for years to develop the new AA Pathway in WGSS. Ana Arredondo, Jennifer Wilson, and I (Amanda Loos) were just presenting about our work with her yesterday during CCC's faculty development kick-off when we received the news of her passing. Please join me in offering our condolences to her family and young children. I will share more details if I hear anything specific about ways to support her family and honor her life and legacy.

C-SWGS is excited to share this new publication with our HWC community! This is the FIRST EVER book on WGSS at community colleges; with this work, our colleagues at community colleges across the country have contributed their voices toward filling the silence about *us* and *our students* in the field of Women's and Gender Studies as well as Higher Education Studies.

Check out the chapter by HWC's own Amanda Loos Logan called, "Hunger for Justice in the Borderlands: Re-Framing Antiracist Feminist Pedagogies for an Urban Community College" on p. 52. :-)

Copies for the Library and C-SWGS' collection coming soon. Order your very own at Amazon! (It's 10% off right now!)

Gival Press is pleased to announce the publication of “Theory and Praxis: Women’s and Gender Studies at Community Colleges” co-edited by Genevieve Carminati and Heather Rellihan.
