Today we honor Juneteenth, commemorating June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved Black Americans in Texas learned of their freedom. More than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation!
As District 50 Toastmasters, we are committed to creating spaces where every voice is heard, valued, and empowered to lead.
As you reflect and celebrate today, we invite you to:
▪ Learn more about the history of Juneteenth and its place in Black American history
▪ Support Black-led community organizations and local Black-owned businesses
▪ Continue amplifying Black voices in your clubs, workplaces, and communities
Together, we can use our words to inform, inspire, and advocate for a more just and equitable world.
