A fun day for MS Alpha alumni. Over 100 local and area alumni showed up to visit the new chapter house, to share lunch with the undergraduates, and to renew old friendships. It was part of the Final Friday alumni luncheons done on the last Friday of the month.

Sunday was a great day for Mississippi Alpha. The chapter welcomed 75 new Phikeias. Over 150 parents, alumni and friends along with the undergraduate chapter were there to welcome them. Special thanks goes out to advisors,Daniel Reed, Brian Glahn and Hiram Eastland, the PDT Mother's Club, and Housemother Jana McBride and the house staff. And to great Rebel Walker Jones who gave the final speech and pinned his son on Sunday. Welcome!

Fraternities were banned at Ole Miss from 1912 to 1926 by a governor who had tried to join as an undergraduate but had been rejected. By an act of MS Legislature, they returned in 1926. MS Alpha alumni had stored the chapter's charter and one of the first to return. Here'a picture of the men who re-started the chapter and the group they recruited the next year.

The MS Alpha Building committee along with contractors, architects, fundraisers, interior designers met tonight to celebrate the completion of the new chapter house. An incredible job. The structure is beautiful and the interior is a tribute to the legacy of so many who have made the chapter great. Kudos to all involved.

Not many MS Alpha Phi obituaries show up in the NYTimes. Thomas Hines was from Oxford. IN COELO QUIES EST.

A historian at U.C.L.A., he showed how Los Angeles’s architects and planners made the city a global center for modernist design in the 20th century.
