Congratulations to Katie McLaughlin ('19), recipient of the 2026 College of Agricultural Sciences Outstanding Recent Alumna Award! 🌟

As Agriculture Coordinator with the Pennsylvania Governor's Office of Transformation & Opportunity, Katie is helping strengthen Pennsylvania's agricultural industry by improving government processes, supporting economic development initiatives, and ensuring agriculture has a seat at the table in shaping the Commonwealth's future.

A Penn State Agricultural Science graduate with minors in Agricultural Communications and International Agriculture, Katie credits Penn State with giving her the flexibility to pursue her passions and the confidence to create opportunities for herself.

Her advice for current students? "Don't wait for an invitation. If you're interested in something, don't be afraid to put yourself out there and learn from others in the industry."

From studying abroad three times as an undergraduate to helping develop Pennsylvania's strategic plan for agriculture, Katie continues to make a meaningful impact on the industry she loves.

Blue and gold took over Ag Hill as we welcomed Pennsylvania FFA to the University Park campus for its 97th State Convention! 💙💛

We were especially excited to celebrate six Pennsylvania FFA state officers who will join the Penn State family this fall. Following Session One, Dean Troy Ott met with Jaylene Everhart, Alexis Butler, Sam Parks, Leah Flinchbaugh, John Bradshaw and Sarah Firestone.

Dean Ott encouraged students to lead and compete with character, passion and pride, reminding them that FFA prepares young people not only for careers in agriculture, but for lives of leadership, service and impact.

Congratulations to all of the students, advisers, parents and supporters who made this week so memorable. We can't wait to see what these future leaders accomplish!

His passion, dedication and pride in Penn State have left a lasting mark on one of the University's most beloved traditions.

Wishing Jim all the best in this next chapter. You will be missed, and the Creamery won't be quite the same without you.

For Paul Miller, a love of the outdoors began with childhood hikes, camping trips and time spent exploring nature. Now, he and his wife, Jane, are helping the next generation turn that same passion into a career.

Through a six-figure commitment to Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, the Millers established the Paul and Jane Miller Undergraduate Research Fund, creating new opportunities for students studying wildlife and fisheries science to gain hands-on research experience, attend conferences and pursue professional development opportunities.

Their gift reflects a shared belief in conservation, education and stewardship.

“We have an obligation to manage our existing wild spaces, create more of those spaces and support proper management of species with fins, feathers or fur,” Paul said.

Learn how the Millers are investing in the future of wildlife conservation and student success:
