Tomorrow, Jainendra Jain will be accepting the 2025 Wolf Prize in Physics live at their award ceremony for his work in theoretical physics โ€” where he was recognized by the Wolf Prize for his โ€œgroundbreaking contributions to quantum matter."

Integrative science major Adam Lieb and his teammates earned first place at the McGill Desautels Business Ethics Case Competition last semester!

The competition was focused on financial ethics and teams had to propose a balanced fiduciary responsibility, preservation of fair market competition and climate risk management.

The highest honor for undergraduate teaching in the Eberly College of Science is the C.I. Noll Award for Excellence in Teaching, which was named after Clarence I. Noll, former dean of the college.

This year, Carly Sjogren, associate teaching professor of biology, and Teh-hui Kao, distinguished professor of biology and molecular biology, were honored with the C.I. Noll Award for their incredible work inside the classroom.

We are proud to share that our own Chris Palma, teaching professor of astronomy and astrophysics, has received an Opportunity Grant from Penn State!

This grant will allow Palma, and 32 other non-tenure-line faculty members, to fund a project of their choosing during the 2026-27 academic year.

Thanks to a Penn State-led team performing one of the most precise calculations ever in particle physics, it has been shown that the Standard Model โ€” the theory describing the known building blocks of matter โ€” still holds.

This recent study, led by Zoltan Fodor, distinguished professor of physics, revealed a tiny discrepancy that has loomed for decades in particle physics was a fluke in calculation, not nature.

Earlier this year, one of our alums Matthew Kapelewski, was honored by the Penn State Alumni Association with the 2026 Alumni Achievement Award, one of the association's most prestigious awards.

Kapelewski graduated with a degree in chemistry in 2012 and is currently the director of chemistry at Orbital, an AI-focused startup.
