Starting in September, Kankakee Community College is partnering with the American Veterans Service Dog Academy offer a 2-semester PTSD Service Dog Handler Training Program. If you have a documented PTSD-related disability, you can learn the basics of training your own service dog. Not in the Kankakee area? AVSDA also offers service dog training classes online at www.avsda.com.

Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to reflect, remember, and honor all the brave men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Did you know? The Coast Guard has been the sole provider of the nation’s polar icebreaking capability since 1965. Commissioned in 1976, the Polar Star is the United States’ sole heavy icebreaker.

The Coast Guard is increasing its icebreaking fleet with construction of three new Polar Security Cutters to ensure persistent national presence and reliable access to the Polar Regions.

Are you a student veteran who considers yourself tech savvy? Want to earn some $?

The GSU Library is the recipient of a grant to use virtual reality technology to practice public speaking. The grant gives $500 to a lucky student veteran to practice with the equipment and provide some feedback this semester. The feedback will be used to develop a more robust program to help more student veterans develop public speaking skills (and later expanded to all students).
