Founded in 1973, Student Foundation allows students to come together in support of SMU through traditional programming. Student Foundation quickly became the campus’s largest programming body. SF began with the annual fundraising event, Telefund, and later introduced Parents’ Weekend (now Family Weekend). The Manata Festival, known today as PerunaPalooza, was introduced in the spring semester. As
the Administration saw the strengths of the organization, greater responsibilities such as Homecoming, University Ambassadors, Celebration of Lights, and the Tate Lecture Series were added to Student Foundation’s repertoire of activities. Today, 49 years after its creation, Student Foundation remains central in upholding the traditions of the past with the dynamics of the future.
