College of the Liberal Arts announces spring 2022 student marshals | Penn State University
As part of Penn State’s spring 2022 commencement activities, 36 students will represent the College of the Liberal Arts as student marshals. The College of the Liberal Arts commencement ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in the Bryce Jordan Center.

A $3.2 million grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse will fund the continuation of Penn State's Prevention and Methodology Training program, which focuses on training the next generation of scientists in preventing substance use and addiction.

Parents of teens who went through puberty early may be more lenient when it comes to letting them consume alcohol, according to a new Penn State study. But the researchers said that even if adolescents appear more mature, drinking alcohol is still not safe for them.

Congratulations to Christopher Seto and Julia Dillavou! The CJRC received eight outstanding applications for our 2021 Graduate Student Summer Research Award program, which provides a summer stipend for work on a specific study. This is record number of proposals submitted for this program. We were able to make the following two awards based on available funding:
Christopher Seto - “Understanding Variation in Hate Crimes and Hate Organizations Across Time and Space: Evidence from Google Trends”.
Julia Dillavou - “Solidarity or Solitude? How Correlates of Incarceration Impact Friendship Among Imprisoned Women”.
Chris and Julia are both in the Department of Sociology and Criminology Graduate Program. We congratulate them both on their successful submissions and we look forward to reporting on their results in a future Docket!
