As a former Quest for Success recipient, it was especially gratifying to attend today’s ceremony celebrating the 42nd anniversary of the award and the 100th anniversary of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce, the oldest Black Chamber of Commerce in the country.

What a powerful legacy of investing in people, celebrating achievement, and creating pathways to success. I’m grateful to have once been a recipient and even more grateful to witness the impact this program continues to make. ✨

It was my great honor to serve as Chairperson for the Scholarship Committee for The Greater Denton County (TX) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated as we proudly awarded $56,000 in scholarships to 15 exceptional students, hosted an inspiring fireside chat with Roland Parrish, and contributed $5000 the Paul Quinn College Endowment—all in one unforgettable day.

I would like to thank President Vivian B-Johnson for the opportunity to serve as chair and Deardra Hayes-Whigham for being a supportive co-chair. Thank you to Zenola Campbell for securing Roland Parrish and a great fireside chat. Thank you to everyone on the committee. A few special shout outs include Cheryl Edwards for those BEAUTIFUL baskets. They were amazing! Thank you to Mitzi S. Wallace-Willis for the lovely certificates and Sheila Taylor-Clark and Dana Tate-Ware
for the decorations. Thank you to immediate past chair Sharen Jackson for answering all my myriad of questions and Kewana Kim Whitaker for media support. And a huge thank you to the entire committee for all the behind the scenes work and hours of pouring over applications and essays. And thank you to all my Link Sisters who showed up and helped out in whatever was needed. Finally thank you to my Connecting Link Richard Hayes who was up with me at 5:00 AM picking up trays and icing down sodas and hauling stuff in and out and setting up the room and just whatever was asked. It takes a village and I so appreciate everyone!

This feels great. These young people are our future!
