Gesu Catholic School “Love ought to manifest itself more by deeds than by words”
–St. Ignatius of Loyola Amen.

Gesu Parish and School have been guided by the Society of Jesus since the parish community was founded in 1926. The church and school are located directly across the street from John Carroll University, one of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the nation. This proximity enhances the Jesuit identity of both parish and school and enables the community rich opportunities to understand and practice the Spiritual Exercises fostered by the Society of Jesus. Parishioners and students are highly encouraged to collaborate with the Society of Jesus in living out the Jesuit mission in the local and global communities. This involves a variety of service projects locally, an annual parish service day in December, and two mission trips to Honduras each year. Prayer for Generosity

Lord, teach me to be generous
Teach me to serve you as you deserve,
To give and not to count the cost,
To fight and not to heed the wounds,
To toil and not to ask for rest,
To labor and not to seek reward,
Save that of knowing that I am doing your will.

This week, the fourth graders visited the STREAM center to design their own field day activity! They used their knowledge of liquid volume, mass, and length to design their stations. At the conclusion of the project, students were tasked with writing their own measurement word problem related to their station.

2:45ers had a delightful experience with Mr. Matt Mazur’s Turtle Dance Music Show, thanks to the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning. 2:45ers especially loved engaging with giant bubbles, songs, dance, and music technology. As a result of this performance, visual and sensory experiences taught us about autism and how different children learn differently. Matt Mazur presented all-original children’s songs and tales. According to Matt, kids of all abilities come out of their shells. He is the Director of Autism Intervention where he lives in New Jersey. Matt provided an energizing afternoon for the Club Members.
