Yesterday I did a training on the Science of Reading for adult educators in Kentucky. We talked briefly about how children learn grammar rules without direct instruction and how funny it can be when they apply one incorrectly. One participant shared that his daughter asked for cheese, and when her mom said she didn’t want her to spoil her appetite before dinner she asked, “Well can I have chee?” 😂. So she rationalized that cheese was plural since it has an “s” on the end- so naturally the singular would be “chee.” 😂😂😂. So cute.
