The Heights Family Resource Center, in partnership with Operation Warm, will distribute more than 450 free, new coats to CH-UH students on October 8 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Coats will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. No questions or paperwork to fill out, just come on by.

The CH-UH schools that do not have air conditioning will be CLOSED Wednesday, September 2, 2026, due to dangerously hot temperatures predicted. Those schools are:

Canterbury Elementary School
Gearity Professional Development School & Preschool
Noble Elementary School & Preschool
Oxford Elementary School & Preschool
Roxboro Elementary School

All other schools and the Board of Education will be open.

Join us this Saturday, August 15 for our annual Back to School Resource Fair! The event is from 10 a.m. to noon at Heights High School.

Dozens of community partners will be there to share resources, and District staff will be on hand to help families with the Parent Annual Update, transportation, registration, and more. Plus:

🩺 All students in attendance can receive free health screenings from Anthem, our event sponsor.
🍳 Free breakfast sandwiches will be provided to the first 400 attendees.
🎒 Free backpacks with school supplies will be provided to the first 300 students.
👟 Soles4Shoes has donated 250 pairs of new, name-brand athletic shoes that will be distributed to students on a first-come, first-served basis.

We are thrilled to once again partner with the Heights Libraries Summer Reading Program. Stop by any Heights Library branch to pick up a paper reading log or participate online.

Your participation in the Heights Libraries Summer Reading Program also enters you into the Superintendent’s Summer Reading Challenge! For each day logged, students will receive a raffle ticket for prizes at each elementary, middle, and high school level. More info: bit.ly/4eCZlQD
