There are many tools and resources that the Dow E.I. has, but here are a few we'd like to spotlight!

Bloomberg Terminals - Gives students full access to world information, markets, industries, companies, and more within the touch of a few buttons.
3D Printer - Gives students the opportunity to create three dimensional models of their prototypes and designs to better understand and fine tune their ideas.
Design Printer - Gives students the tools to make any idea possible.
no matter the complexity or difficulty. designing to create is a lengthy process, which the dei hopes to streamline for new entrepreneurs.
Eye-Tracking Technology - Gives students opportunities to see how people work with their products, and work with state-of-the-art technology to better understand how their ideas may be understood and used by others.

The financial literacy program allows the Dow entrepreneurship institute to teach younger students the value of healthy skepticism in consumerism.

product innovation lab - allows students to create business ideas to create prototypes of their product by using our state of the art tools.

strostacker consumer behavior lab - students can validate their prototypes from a consumer perspective to ensure that it has the required commercial merits to succeed.

wolohan finance and data analytics lab - gives students the space and time to research and verify their business idea’s feasibility and success.

“I joined SVSU as an adjunct instructor, and that was back in 2020.” Mohamed Adel stated one morning, while beginning his interview.
“I grew up in a family where everyone had their own small shops; My dad, my grandfather, his father, my great, great grandfather, as did my uncles and so everyone had their own businesses. I grew up in that environment, and had the opportunity to learn from it at an early age,” Adel lives and breathes business through the Institute, and through his purview and guidance has watched it grow exponentially since he began teaching at Saginaw Valley State University.
“Around the same time they had the grand opening of the Scott L. Carmona College of Business. They needed someone who understood the technology that would be available to students. It grew from there…there was a position [at the Institute], available, with labs that someone needed to take care of, and someone to oversee the expansion of the operations of the Dow Entrepreneurship Institute. I thought that this would be a great opportunity, which is why I accepted the job and have been here since.”

Our students, both at SVSU and beyond, make an impact on our program. Whether it be an inaugural Financial Literacy Program course, students who utilize our tools and opportunities, or those that support students' endeavors, the Dow Entrepreneurship Institute is thankful for all those involved with our process-- we could not do this without your support.

Ryan Pelletier, a 4th year International Business Management major with a minor in
Entrepreneurship has created Morphite Boards with the Dow Entrepreneurship Institute. “The idea originated back in 2018, and I used to longboard a lot– I wanted to bring my board to high school at the time, but I couldn’t fit my board into my locker. Especially with my backpack, books, and everything.” He mentions how he wanted a way to condense the board down and fit it into either the backpack or, as the goal was at the time, the locker, Ryan reminisces. “Since then, I’ve pushed beyond [the locker] to try to fit into a backpack. I built the prototype in 2018, which was very rudimentary, almost an entirely different design. It was really redesigned when we got [to SVSU] and when I pitched it to Jim, [the Product Innovation Lab Technician] about five years later, this year, and started working on feasibility then. That’s when the project really took off.”

How can WE support you?

Through the Dow Entrepreneurship Institute, we give
Saginaw Valley State University students access to
idea-inspiring facilities, support by faculty that run the
Institute, which is intended to support those within their
higher educational studies to consider and learn more
about entrepreneurship, giving opportunities for expert
knowledge in the industry and other local opportunities,
and post graduation connection to local business
owners of the Great Lakes Bay Region.
