Get faster around the kit. Practice these 3 subdivisions 16th notes, 16th note triplets, and 32nd notes, in single strokes. Keep the kicks on 1/4 notes. If none of this makes sense to you consider purchasing my drum course I go over all of it

www.joelsdrumming.com will explain what 8th notes and 16th notes are. For those that do know, start at 80 bpm, 8th notes on hi hats, 2 and 4 on snare, 16th notes with your kick. Crank up the tempo till you can't keep a nice steady 16th notes going with your kick. Simple but not easy.
