This week, our board recognized UCPS educators who have completed special training in Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS). This multi-year professional development program is based on the science of reading and teaches educators the "how, what, and why" of literacy acquisition.

Mrs. Hines’s class had an amazing time creating their habitat projects! 🐾🌿 This hands-on activity was a great extension of their story this week and gave students the opportunity to bring their learning to life. We love seeing our Warriors excited about learning!

As we head into the fall season, we want to work together to keep our school community healthy!

Please take a moment to review the attached guideline sheet to help you decide when your child should stay home due to illness. As a reminder, students should stay home when sick, cover coughs and sneezes, and wash hands frequently.

When deciding when it’s safe for your child to return to school, please follow the recommendations on the attached sheet, along with the guidance of your healthcare provider and the school district.

Important information regarding Christmas Assistance.

Families who anticipate needing FRYSC Christmas Assistance this upcoming holiday season are required to attend one Parent Workshop. There are four options available at the Union County Extension Office, and parents must choose one of the following.

Thursday, October 1:
Morning Session: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM (please arrive by 9:00 AM)
Afternoon Session: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM (please arrive by 12:00 PM)

Thursday, November 5:
Afternoon Session: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM (please arrive by 12:00 PM)
Evening Session: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM (please arrive by 4:00 PM)

You will sign up for Christmas assistance at the workshop, so please bring proof of income with you.

If you have any questions, please contact the FRYSC Coordinator at your child’s school.
