As classes came to an end in 2025, Troy Price Horseshoeing School once again hosted the Danny Ward Memorial Clinic and Open House for the 7th year. We had a great turnout with students and their families, former students, veterinarians, and local farriers. I especially want to thank the speakers we asked to come give educational talks which included Josh Thacker, Dr. Amy Peoples, Kim Jackson, Dr. Lydia Mudd, Heath Lash, Cody Bogard, and Tobias Ellis. See below for the complete list of donors.
We will continue to accept applications for the Danny Ward Memorial Scholarship till the end of the year when the committee will select a winner. Applications can be found on our website or the Indiana Farrier’s Association website.
We had a hard-working group of students this year who spent countless hours in the shop resulting in 5 students achieving Certified Status (CF) with the American Farrier’s Association before the end of their course. Others passed portions of the CF test as well.

We are excited to watch as this group of hard working students strive for certified status with the American Farrier's Association. A few students completed the 15-week Basic Horseshoeing Course in July and others continued on in the 30-week Journeyman Horseshoeing Course. Currently the students are perfecting their shoe boards, practicing shoe modifications, doing leg dissections, and shoeing horses. We wish them success in the coming weeks!

We are pleased to announce that this year’s recipient of the Danny Ward Memorial Scholarship is Jaren Denius. Jaren is from Ohio where he has been working at a pharmacy, attending a community college, and helping at an equestrian center. Like so many others, he became interested in a career as a farrier after watching the barn farrier and appreciating the craftsmanship involved in shoeing horses. Jaren was awarded a $1,000 award to be used toward tuition at horseshoeing school. He will be attending the 15-week Basic Horseshoeing Course at Troy Price Horseshoeing School in April 2025 and will continue on in the 30-week program if space becomes available. After school, he plans to continue working and apprentice with other farriers while setting up his own business. Congratulations to Jaren on winning this award!
