A Year of Growth: Graduations and Milestones in Catholic Schools

As another school year comes to a close, we celebrate the many milestones that mark our students’ journeys of growth, achievement, and faith. From moving up ceremonies to graduations, these special moments reflect the dedication, perseverance, and accomplishments of our students. We proudly recognize the school communities that have guided and supported them every step of the way.

Shining like stars and ready for their next adventure, the Pre-K students at Our Lady of Victory School - Floral Park celebrated the completion of a wonderful year of learning, faith, and love. Throughout the year, these bright young Pre-K Stars grew in confidence, curiosity, and kindness while building a strong foundation for Kindergarten. Their smiles, enthusiasm, and star-filled spirit are a joyful reminder that each child is destined to shine brightly in the years ahead.

In anticipation of America’s upcoming 250th birthday,
St. Dominic Elementary School - Oyster Bay enjoyed a day filled with faith, learning, and patriotism. The celebration began with a beautiful liturgy, followed by engaging classroom activities and themed lessons that helped students deepen their appreciation for our nation’s history and values. A memorable group photo outside the church brought the school community together, highlighting the spirit of unity and gratitude that makes days like these so meaningful.

St. Joseph School - Garden City proudly congratulates the Class of 2026 as they prepare to take the next step in their educational journey and move forward to high school. Throughout their years at St. Joseph School, these students have grown in faith, character, and knowledge, building a strong foundation for future success through academics, service, and spiritual formation. Their time at the school has been marked by meaningful friendships, memorable experiences, and a commitment to living out Catholic values each day. As they begin this exciting new chapter, they carry with them the lessons, confidence, and trust in God that will guide them in the years ahead.

St. Mary School - East Islip proudly celebrates Principal Mrs. Laura McMahon as she marks 40 years of dedicated service to Catholic education. Through her unwavering commitment to faith, academic excellence, and student success, she has touched the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues. Her remarkable legacy of leadership, compassion, and inspiration continues to shape the school community and will be felt for generations to come.

As the Class of 2026 received their yearbooks, students at St. Patrick School, Smithtown took time to reflect on the memories that have shaped their journey together. Filled with shared laughter, friendships, achievements, and special moments, these books capture the experiences that helped define their years at St. Patrick School. From classroom accomplishments and school traditions to faith-filled celebrations, each page tells a story of growth and community. As they look ahead to the next chapter, the yearbook serves as a lasting reminder of the community, faith, and friendships that shaped their school years.

St. William the Abbot School - Seaford celebrates the hard work and scientific inquiry of its eighth-grade Biology students as they prepare for their Regents exam. Through a partnership with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, students gained valuable hands-on experience by completing a bacterial transformation lab, bringing classroom concepts to life. This enriching opportunity highlights the school’s commitment to academic excellence and preparing students for success in high school and beyond.

As another school year comes to a close, we are filled with gratitude for the many blessings our students have experienced thanks to faithful supporters like you.

One of those students is Ovia, a sixth grader at St. Patrick School - Bay Shore. Having received tuition assistance from the Tomorrow's Hope Foundation since kindergarten, Ovia has benefited from a Catholic education throughout her elementary school years. When asked how her Catholic education has impacted her life, Ovia shared that St. Patrick School has helped her grow in faith, kindness, confidence, and gratitude every day.

Through school activities like choir and performing in The Little Mermaid, Ovia has had the opportunity to develop lasting friendships and the confidence to try new things. That confidence was on full display when Ovia stood before hundreds of guests at the Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation Gala to personally share her gratitude and speak about the impact her Catholic education has had on her life. With poise and sincerity, she thanked the donors whose generosity has made her education possible, a remarkable testament to the young woman she is becoming.

More importantly, her Catholic education has strengthened her relationship with God. Each day begins with prayer, and throughout the school day, she is reminded to live her faith through compassion, service, and gratitude.

Ovia writes: "Without Tomorrow’s Hope and people like you, students like me would not have the opportunity to attend a great Catholic school like St. Patrick School. Your support helps students grow every day, and I am very thankful and grateful for that."

Her story is a powerful reminder that a Catholic education is about much more than academics. It is about forming young people who are grounded in faith, inspired to serve others, and prepared to become compassionate leaders in their communities.

As we look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year, there are many more students like Ovia who need financial assistance to access the life-changing benefits of a Catholic education. This coming school year, Tomorrow's Hope Foundation has committed $2.7 million in scholarship assistance, approximately 3% more than was distributed during the 2025-2026 school year. Your support helps ensure that families who desire a faith-filled education for their children can make that dream a reality.

Will you consider making a gift today to help provide scholarships for the coming school year by visiting https://www.tomorrowshopefoundation.org/donate?

Every donation, regardless of size, helps students grow academically, spiritually, and personally in a nurturing Catholic environment.

Thank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures. Together, we are helping children like Ovia walk their path to holiness while receiving the education they deserve.

With gratitude,
Tomorrow's Hope Foundation

On behalf of Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, thank you for making our 21st Annual STARS for Students Gala on May 14, 2026, at The Lannin in East Meadow an unforgettable evening and an extraordinary success.

Thanks to your generosity and support, we surpassed our goal of $1.25 million and raised more than $1.27 million, and counting, to support Catholic elementary school students across Long Island.

It was a beautiful evening filled with inspiration, celebration, and hope. The program began with Ismini Scouras, Executive Director of Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation, welcoming guests, followed by a moving rendition of the National Anthem by Maura O’Connell, student at Sacred Heart Academy (Hempstead, NY).

We are grateful to Peggy Ranieri York, Tomorrow's Hope Vice Chair, for serving as our emcee and to Most Reverend John O. Barres, Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, for delivering the evening’s invocation. We also thank Pamela Sanders, Superintendent of Schools, DRVC Department of Education, for her heartfelt remarks highlighting the impact of Catholic education.

The evening featured an exciting live auction and our heartfelt STARS Appeal, including a touching speech from Ovia, a 6th grader from St. Patrick School - Bay Shore, whose story reminded us why this mission matters so deeply.

Catholic elementary school students Anthony York and Owen Morris did a wonderful job introducing our distinguished honorees, Loretta and John Cameron, The DeGregoris Family and Gregoris Subaru, and Irena Gecas-McCarthy and Michael McCarthy.

We were also proud to present the Peg Ranieri Teacher Award to Mrs. Valerie Cruciata of St. Rose of Lima School - Massapequa in recognition of her dedication and commitment to Catholic education.

Additionally, we were honored to announce the establishment of the Deacon Jack McKenna Stewardship Award, which will be presented for the first time at next year’s gala. Deacon Jack faithfully served as a deacon for 23 years at The Church of St. Joseph in Garden City and was deeply beloved by his community until his passing in December 2025. His legacy of faith and service continues to inspire all who knew him.

The evening concluded with a blessing from Father Matthew Browne, Bishop's Delegate to the DRVC Department of Education, sending everyone home inspired by the incredible impact we can make together.

None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our gala committee, volunteers, sponsors, donors, honorees and all who supported this event. Your commitment to the students and families served by Tomorrow’s Hope Foundation continues to transform lives through Catholic education.

Thank you again for your generosity, partnership, and belief in our mission. We are deeply grateful for your support and look forward to continuing this important work together.

Throughout our Catholic schools in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, students are embracing opportunities that strengthen both their faith and academic growth. From celebrating the sacraments to achieving excellence, these moments reflect the mission of Catholic education to nurture the whole child. We proudly recognize the students, families, and educators who help build communities rooted in faith, learning, and service.

Holy Family School - Hicksville proudly celebrates all the students who participated in this year’s Math Bee competition. Their enthusiasm for learning and willingness to challenge themselves highlight the vibrant academic spirit found throughout the school community. Events like the Math Bee encourage students to use their God-given talents while building perseverance and confidence.

Holy Name of Mary School - Valley Stream joyfully celebrated its second grade students at the traditional Communion Breakfast honoring their First Holy Communion. Students and families gathered in faith and fellowship to share a special meal and commemorate this meaningful milestone in their spiritual journey. The celebration reflected the strong partnership between home, school, and parish in nurturing both the faith life and growth of each child.

Maria Regina School - Seaford proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of the Aquinas Team at the Aquinas Expo held at Holy Trinity High School. Demonstrating creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence, the team earned top three placements in every individual category and was also honored with the prestigious “Student Choice” Award. Their success reflects the dedication of the students and the school’s commitment to inspiring innovation, leadership, and lifelong learning.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School of Long Island in Deer Park celebrated a beautiful and faith-filled day as students received their First Holy Communion. Heartfelt gratitude goes out to Fr. Anthony for leading the meaningful liturgy, and to Mrs. Bonilla and Mrs. Ugalde for their dedication and guidance in preparing the students for this special sacrament. This memorable occasion reflected the joy of faith, the strength of community, and the importance of spiritual formation in the lives of the students.

Students in grades three through five at Our Lady of Lourdes School, Malverne enjoyed an engaging and educational Career Day experience as they explored a wide variety of professions. From a prosecutor and school librarian to a speech pathologist, NYPD lieutenant, and medical professionals, students gained valuable insight into the many paths their futures may hold. The event encouraged curiosity, inspired academic growth, and highlighted the importance of using one’s talents and education to serve others.

Rooted in faith and strengthened by the Holy Spirit, the eighth-grade students at St. Patrick's School in Huntington proudly received the Sacrament of Confirmation this spring. This important milestone reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing both the spiritual growth and academic development of its students. As they continue their educational journey, these young men and women are guided by faith, knowledge, and a deep sense of purpose.
