SAE Spotlight: Camilla Blackburn

In May, Camilla received our chapters “Blue Banner Legacy” award, highlighting her demand for excellence and the many, many hours she puts in outside of the ring to earn success. This summer, she has proven once again her right to receive this award.

Camilla is a graduating senior who has many SAE projects. One of her projects includes raising X-Bred Hogs. This year, Camilla’s SAE breeding program had the following successes:

Food Science has completed many labs this semester - one of the more in depth labs they completed was in our Processing Unit. Students learned how to break down a whole chicken carcass from a guest speaker.

Students then worked in groups to create three dishes using their chicken and had a contest. Our panel of judges determined the following awards:

Best Overall: Brynn Weishaar (Chicken Greek Gyro)
Best Appearance: Brynn Weishaar (Chicken Greek Gyro)
Most Unique: Mason Ritter (Snow Chicken)
Judges Choice: Abby Schlegel (Crunch Wrap)

We need help in the Food Booth both Friday & Saturday during the rodeo!
The shift will be 3pm-8pm and we'll need 6-7 volunteers each night!
