šŸŽ“ MEET MORGAN BROM šŸŽ“

Special Education - Academic Seminar 9-12 | Union County High School

Morgan is coming home. After being born and raised in Cherokee County, moving to Alabama at age 12, and spending years building his career in education, he's returned to the Upstate—and UCHS is lucky to have him. šŸ’™

His Journey:
With 11 years in education under his belt, Morgan has worked in private facilities, middle school, and now high school. But he knew the high school environment was where his heart belonged. Watching students overcome challenges, grow in independence, and walk across the stage for their diploma? That's what keeps him going.

What He Brings:
"I want my students to feel valued, encouraged, and confident in their ability to learn and grow." Morgan creates classrooms where every student feels included and supported—and he means it. He's experienced navigating challenges firsthand (he lives with a neurological condition requiring monthly infusions), which has deepened his empathy and determination to help students succeed.

Outside the Classroom:

Foodie extraordinaire: He loves exploring international cuisines and experiencing different cultures through food šŸŒ
Card game champion: Don't challenge him to a card game—he has a competitive streak!
Active and adventurous: Fishing, traveling, concerts, and Roll Tide football (Go Bama! šŸˆ)
Community-minded: Volunteers with his church, plays church softball, and serves with the Shriners

His Philosophy:
"Challenges don't have to define your ability to succeed." Morgan believes in setting high expectations while providing the support students need to reach them. He's here to help every student recognize their own potential.

Welcome home, Morgan! Union County High is better because you're here. šŸ™Œ

✨ MEET CARSON BOWEN ✨

English III & English III Honors | Union County High School

Carson Bowen is a first-year teacher with an incredible backstory: she made it to the Olympic Trials for swimming at age 15. But here's the thing—she traded the competitive pool for the classroom, and Union County High is the winner. šŸŠā€ā™€ļøāž”ļøšŸ“š

Her Journey:
Carson always knew she wanted to work with students, but it was her experiences in education—especially student teaching—that confirmed it: teaching English was her calling. She wanted to be the kind of teacher who made her students feel capable, just like her own teachers did for her.

What She's Bringing:
"I want my classroom to be a place where students feel comfortable being themselves and taking risks." Carson brings enthusiasm, creativity, and genuine care. She's teaching English in a way that shows students the subject is creative, meaningful, and connected to their lives—not just reading and writing.

The Real Carson:

Secret anime nerd: Yes, her students have discovered that their English teacher is completely hooked on anime. šŸŽ¬
Jeopardy champion: She's AMAZING at trivia and random facts. Seriously competitive about it.
Creative collector: She loves gathering quirky trinkets and little things with stories. Her space reflects her personality perfectly.
Competitive athlete: Coaching JV softball this year—loves connecting with students outside the classroom
Huge family person: Oldest of four in her adoptive family, youngest of seven in her birth family. 15 siblings total = endless advice, embarrassment, and love. šŸ’•

Her Why:
Coming from Spartanburg, Carson was drawn to Union County's genuine sense of community. "People here genuinely care about their students and their schools," she says. She wanted to be part of something bigger—and she is.

Her Goals:
Help students see the value in what they're learning, create a space where they feel supported and challenged, and become the best educator she can be.

Welcome to Union County, Carson! We're excited to have you! šŸŽ‰

Today, Union County High School completed a series of drills as part of our normal beginning-of-the-year safety procedures. Our students and faculty did a great job, and we appreciated their patience and cooperation as we worked through these important drills.

As we begin the school year, we also encourage students and families to continue communicating openly with teachers and administrators whenever safety questions or concerns arise. Working together helps us maintain a safe, supportive environment for everyone.
