Union SEEK students had a great time at ECTAG Art in the Park! They enjoyed viewing the ECTAG Art Show, watching the East Central Community College Collegians perform, and getting to see a little of the campus at East Central Community College.

We’re also proud to celebrate our Union SEEK students who placed in this year’s ECTAG Art Competition! 🎨 Congratulations to these students for their creativity and hard work.

Wednesday, students, their parents, and Mrs. Goss attended the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children’s Gifted Day at the Capitol, which helps highlight the importance of gifted services in Mississippi. Students met with our local legislators, learned more about their roles, and toured the Capitol building. They enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to see state government in action. Thank you to our legislators for taking time to meet with our students and for their continued support of gifted programs.

Our SEEK rooms have been busy with festive learning and creativity! Second graders traveled the world learning about holidays and shared kind words by writing compliments to tuck inside ornaments. Third graders became designers, using Tinkercad to create their own 3-D printed ornaments. Fourth graders turned into scientists, exploring crystal formation and creating beautiful borax crystal ornaments based on their discoveries. Fifth and sixth graders expanded their global perspectives by researching winter holiday celebrations around the world and sharing their discoveries.

Our SEEK students shone at the ECTAG Talent Competition on Friday! Penelope Purvis placed first in her division with her dance “Witch Doctor,” and Tripp Quick followed with a performance of “Grave Robber.” Ella Wilcher also earned first place in her division with “One Way to Christmas,” while Baylee Ryals shared her vocal talent with “Dusty Bibles.” Rounding out the day, Gracyn Harrison, Morgan Campbell, and Jerilyn Jayroe placed third in their division with an instrumental performance of “Ode to Joy.” All of our students had a wonderful time competing, and we’re so proud of their hard work and dedication!

We’re proud to share that Union’s own Dr. Lori Rogers Wilcher has been honored with the Sherrye C. Thompson Parent Advocate Award from the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children. We are grateful for her dedicated support of gifted students in our program and throughout our state! Union Public School District

We’re so proud of our SEEK Talent Show winners! 🌟 Every participant performed with heart and enthusiasm. Our first-place winners will advance to the ECTAG Talent Show in December.

Congratulations to our SEEK seniors who competed in the ECTAG Senior Scholarship Competition today! 🎓👏 Jude Feasel placed first and earned a $250 scholarship, Annley Howell placed second and earned $200, and Eli Chandlee placed third and earned $150. We are so proud of their hard work and achievements!

Egg Drop Challenge!

Our SEEK students put their engineering and problem-solving skills to the test in our classroom egg drop competition! Students designed creative vehicles to protect their eggs from a crash — with some impressive results (and a few splats!).
The top teams from each division will move on to represent us at the ECTAG Egg Drop Competition this Thursday!
We’re so proud of our young engineers and can’t wait to see how they do at the next level!
