National Volunteer Week 2026!!!
The Center For Leadership and Service had a group of fantastic volunteers which cheered hundreds of participants at the MS walk in West Orange. Through their homemade signs and cheers, they made a difference in the positive spirit of the walk.🚶🏻♀️

National Volunteer Week 2026!!!
The Center For Leadership and Service joined water spirit and Kean’s international students for a beach cleanup. We don’t easily forget. It was cold, windy and rainy, but our volunteers persevered the weather and cleaned the Bay side of Sandy Hook.

The Center for Leadership and Service and the English as a second language program supported the Elizabeth community by distributing fresh fruits and vegetables at St. Joseph’s Farmer’s Market. 🥦🥒

National Volunteer 2026!!
Wonderful volunteers came out to help spruce up the community garden on campus! It’s that time of the year to get out into the dirt and get the Earth ready for planting! Great job volunteers!! 🍀

National Volunteer Week 2026!!
The center for leadership and service joined Dr. Daniela Shebitz for the annual River Clean Up on East Campus! Over 100 volunteers came out to pull debris out of the water and local area.. including 2 benches, a tire and even a bicycle! Great job volunteers on everyone’s hard work! 🏞️🚲🛞

Student Volunteers worked hard but played hard too by enjoying the rich culture of San Juan through food, historical tours and all the sites and sounds of people and places! We had the privilege to visit! WE WILL NOT FORGET PUERTO RICO!! 🇵🇷🇵🇷

Students worked trails in Puerto Rico’s tropical rainforest El Yunque, the only one in the US. Volunteers were able to learn about the impact of the hurricane on the rainforest and how simple efforts such as digging ditches and managing water flow had an astounding impact on this beautiful forest!

Students took part in community reforestation project in Santruce, San Juan by planting native trees and plants ,cleaning litter from the connected skatepark and making painting signs to support their efforts! This place was a true integration of community dedication, local artistry and projecting and renewing the land. It was as an eye opening experience for all. 🌳🪵

Students charged with a microplastics data collection project for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association for their 1st project in Puerto Rico. NOAA helps collect data to track debri and plastic in the water and shorelines of the world to monitor impact. 🏝️

Volunteers participated in Alternative Spring Break this March in Puerto Rico🇵🇷🇵🇷. They took part in 3 distinct service initiatives. We learned a lot from one another and had a great experience.
Application for Alternative Spring Break for next year will be available in September!! Look out for it on cougar link!! We hope to see some of you guys there! 💙💙💙
